Sci-Fi Metropolis Update

Sorry for the delay in getting an update posted on the site regarding the new Lost in Space products being produced by Norman Sockwell at Sci-Fi Metropolis. Norman has been very busy re-sculpting the new LIS action figures. As to our posting promoting the prototype figures, the revised heads / faces are fantastic! John Robinson, Dr. Smith and The Keeper are being released late February 2005.

The second wave of action figures will include Don West, Maureen Robinson and IDAK. They are being finalized now and will begin production shortly after the release of the first 3 figures. Will Robinson, Judy Robinson, Penny Robinson, The B9 Robot and various Aliens will follow these from the series.

We received an email from Norman on December 12, 2004 with some additional information on the product line.

(From Norman Sockwell - Owner Sci-Fi Metropolis)

This is the first time a 1/6th scale action figure release has actually taken place for the Lost in Space series. This in itself will ensure that these will become instant collectibles. That and the limited production numbers. The action figures are being limited to 2000 per character. They will then be retired and we will move onto the next characters in the line up.

The pricing on the action figures (not dolls please) is $69.99. These are limited runs and may very well sell out during the pre-order phase. Once sold out that figure will be retired to preserve their value. Once the figure is retired it will not be re-released later.

The main reasoning behind doing the pre-orders is to get an idea of how many figures we may need to produce and to allow the true Lost in Space fans to get a guaranteed order spot in before the other collectors start getting their orders in. We really want to make sure that the fans don't miss out. I mean, how would you feel if you waited until they were out before trying to get yours, only to find that they are now sold out and you can't get one. That would not be good.

The action figures will start shipping late February and should be in customer's hands shortly afterwards. Remember, Once a figure is retired that figure will not be re-released. We will move onto the next character in the series. So, if you are a collector and want a complete set I would suggest getting your pre-orders in. We are quickly running out of figures for the initial release. Keep in mind that we have a few retailers (not all in the US) that are placing purchase orders as well and that subtracts from what is left over from the production run.

Thanks,

Norman Sockwell
