To celebrate the Dark Knights legacy Alex Ross created this dramatic painting full of important visual references of his history. With the design, Ross pulls the Golden Age of Batman right into the modern age and beyond. Created by artist, Bob Kane and writer, Bill Finger in 1939, Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27. During his years at DC Comics he has been referred to as the Caped Crusader "the Dark Knight and the Worlds Greatest Detective" among other titles. An American icon, Batman has been licensed and adapted into a variety of media, from radio to television and film, and appears on a variety of merchandise sold all over the world such as toys and video games.
