Creature from the Black Lagoon with 2 signatures! Autograph rare Creature from the Black Lagoon is a genre making 1954 horror film. A fossil expedition along the Amazon River discovers the fabled Black Lagoon and its prehistoric menace, a "Gill-Man" a fish-human hybrid. The explorers capture the creature after it kills their native guides, but it escapes. It then returns to kidnap the token female research assistant and carries her away to its lair for the others to rescue her.

Made for Universal Pictures in a lightweight 79 minutes, directed by Jack Arnold and starring Richard Carlson, Julie Adams and Richard Denning. The Gill-Man was played by Ben Chapman and Ricou Browning, the underwater action specialist (later to be responsible for the TV-series Flipper). It is considered a classic of the 1950's monster B-movies and has wonderfully crisp photography to back up the featherweight plot and acting.

Ricou Browning Ricou Browning (born February 16, 1930) is an American film director, actor, producer and underwater cinematographer and action specialist. He was born in Fort Pierce, Florida. He grew up to start a career in water shows, moving on to produce shows. It is sometimes stated he is an Olympic swimmer, although there is little evidence for this. He moved into movies in 1954, playing the underwater role of the Gill-Man in Creature from the Black Lagoon (while Ben Chapman played the monster on land), a feat he repeated in two sequels. He continued in movie production and joined Ivan Tors' studios in Florida, where he was producer on Flipper (1963) and the writer on the following television series. He directed Hello Down There (1969) and Salty (1973). He also worked as second unit director, stunt coordinator and underwater sequence director on a number of features, including Island of the Sky (1967), Caddyshack (1980), Thunderball (1965) and Never Say Never Again (1983).

Adams, a former secretary, broke into films in the late 1940s, originally appearing under her given first name before changing it to Julia, then finally Julie.

She was leading lady to sagebrush stars James Ellison and Russell Hayden in a series of six ultra-cheap Westerns, shot back to back over a four-week period in 1950. She was signed by Universal, where she remained confined to the range, putting her in both A and B oaters, among them The Dalton Gang (1949), Bend of the River, Horizons West, The Lawless Breed (all 1952), Mississippi Gambler and The Man From the Alamo (both 1953); other roles in this period include small ones in Red Hot and Blue (1949) and Hollywood Story (1951). After Creature she had more varied parts (including female leads) in the likes of The Private War of Major Benson (1955), Slaughter on Tenth Avenue (1957), The Underwater City (1962), Tickle Me (1965), The Last Movie (1971), McQ (1973), The Wild McCulloughs (1975), and The Killer Inside Me (1976). Her TV series include "Yancy Derringer" (1958-59), "The Jimmy Stewart Show" (1971-72, as his wife), and "Code Red" (1981-82). Adams continued to work on TV in the 1980s and had a recurring role on "Murder, She Wrote" in the early 1990's. She was married at one time to Ray Danton.
