This life-size prototype is a pre-production sample which the design company
sends out for review and ultimately it is reviewed by the product development
department for Universal Studios and perspective manufacturing companies. This
is a fossilized paint scheme varation of the standard green version of the
creature molded from the original head piece Ben Chapman wore in the 1954 film.
The cast is a hollow plaster shell roughly 1/2 inch thick and is unfinished on
the backside. Each piece is hand signed, numbered and dated on the reverse. It
has a sturdy wire hanger on the back so it can be hung on the wall or it can
stand on the table and has felt pads on the bottom. This unique cast comes
complete with a Creature from the Black Lagoon plaque attached on the front.
The paint scheme is a bone colored creature head washed with browns and greens
to replicate ageing and moss growth. The Creatures base is painted to look like
rusted and aged aluminum with built in rivets. This cast is weighs between 12
and 14 pounds.
Value: $100.
