Hard to believe, but this year will be the fifthy-eight Anniversary of this great series. It first aired in August of 1965 and was on the air for a brief two years and 65 episodes. It may be even more popular today, though ABC cancelled it when it was a hit, one of the mysterious workings of network TV? This was the authentic flag that flew above the loonies of Fort Courage. It was obtained from one of the show's producers, Herman S. Saunders, a partner of mine for more than 15 years. Until his death last year it hung proudly in Herm's Sherman Oaks home.
