Helen Rose costume sketch for Anne Francis in Forbidden Planet. (MGM, 1956) Original costume sketch accomplished in gouache and ink on a 15 in. x 22 in. sheet of artist's illustration board, featuring Anne Francis as the lovely "Altaira" wearing a tight-fitting white bathing suit cover-up with green jeweled necklace. Pencil notation at the upper left reads "#4 FYT Pool".

Francis wore this piece during the scene in which she emerges from the pool to kiss Leslie Nielsen, only to have a tiger leap out from the nearby rocks and attack them! Nielsen's character swiftly dispatches with the tiger using his laser pistol. A fantastic wardrobe piece worn by the captivating "Altaira" during one of the most sensual scenes of the film, here conceptualized by Helen Rose in this beautiful rendering.
