This website is dedicated to producer, creator, & director Mr. Irwin Allen. Without him, none of
this would have been possible. His love for entertainment will live in our hearts, and memories
forever!
Irwin was a kid in all of us. His TV shows and big block buster films proved nothing less. His
productions had everything from, excitement, adventure, drama, fist fights, special effects, awesome
sets, monsters, and though unforgettable "Cliff-Hanger" episodes. Irwin loved to challenge the
actors / actress on doing things that were never done before in Hollywood. Many of them did their own
stunts, which is unheard of in today's times. Nothing in Hollywood has come close to what Irwin Allen
created over 50 years ago!
In 1991, Mr. Allen had finally reconsidered the possibility of producing a new Lost in Space reunion
film. Although he had rejected Billy Mumy's script to do one in the mid 1980's. (When Guy Williams was
still alive), in the months before his death Mr. Allen began to reconsider. His market research indicated
a lot of interest in such a project, and the ongoing success of the Star Trek motion pictures, and
television revival proved that returning to an old program for new ideas was more than acceptable.
In the summer of 1991 he scheduled a meeting with 20th Century Fox, but was forced to cancel it due to
ill health. He even met with Mr. Jonathan Harris to discuss his return to do a feature, and Harris said,
"It all depended on the script!". But on November 2, 1991, Mr. Irwin Allen died of a heart attack at his
home in Malibu. He was only 75 at the time. He died one week after (Star Trek's) Gene Roddenberry, also
of a heart attack. The only other producer of television shows, who was as closely identified with
science fiction as Mr. Irwin Allen was. Mr. Irwin Allen very much a product of Old Hollywood. But
Mr. Allen was a strong believer as a writer-producer, and doing it the way he wanted it done. He was
very special, and the very last of his kind! "He's work on television and his films will always be
remembered by a legion of fans all over the world!"
