ORIGINAL THE TOWERING INFERNO CONCEPT ART #10 |
Updated: July 09, 2023
Oversize Unit Storyboards ( 2 ) of Proposed Golden Gate Bridge Intro from The Towering Inferno ( Irwin Allen Productions, 1974 ).
A pair of vintage original oversize production unit storyboards featuring composite matte shots and blue screen diagrams for the proposed opening shots from this classic Irwin Allen cliffhanger. The unit storyboards illustrate the camera position on the
bridge, and the composite matte paintings intercut with how the blue screen shots were to capture the action, but ultimately the production opted for the memorable helicopter shots of San Francisco. The storyboards are hand-drawn in colored ink marker with captions and notation in red ink. The upper storyboard measures 27" x 18.5", the lower measures 27" x 21", affixed with tape to
4-ply artist illustration board measuring 30" x 40". Actual artwork reproduced on pages 438-450 of "The Fantasy Worlds of
Irwin Allen" by Jeff Bond, Creature Features 2019.
Value: $500.
