IRWIN ALLEN DAREDEVIL PILOT SCRIPT |
Updated: January 25, 2022
Rare, Daredevil TV Pilot Script Producer Irwin Allen. Unproduced; Original Columbia Pictures Television
screenplay with annotations 1983. Here's a very unique item. And until discovering it years ago, we had
no idea the legendary; producer, Irwin Allen, had ever even contimplated making a Television series based
on a Superhero. One of Irwin's last projects was developing a TV show based upon Marvel Comics popular
Daredevil comic book. In the early 1980's, the Comic Book Hero had seen a re-surgance in its popularity
due to the amazing work of Artist / Illustrator, Frank Miller. Evidently, Irwin Allen and his development
team felt that an actual Marvel Comic Book cover for the script would add a colorful dynamic to the
Television pilot screenplay. So they cut an actual cover from a Daredevil Comic Book and placed it in a
Mylar protective cover (as depicted in the photos above). The cover illustrated by John Byrne and
Terry Austin features a bloody Daredevil standing over a beaten Bullseye super-villian. The front page of
the script states "Columbia Pictures Television Presents...Irwin Allen's Production of Daredevil"
This original 23 year old screenplay was written for the Television pilot of the proposed series by Tony Kayden
based on the Marvel Comic character Daredevil, created by Stan Lee there is handwriting in ball-point ink
(not sure if original) written in the upper right-hand corner of the first page that roughly states; "Father
should live out altogether use August 29th time clock earlier (?) he should decide to go after (?) earlier."
Condition of the script is excellent except for the Mylar, which shows signs of natural use and wear.
Value: $200-Up.
