HANNA-BARBERA ORIGINAL CARTOON CELS #01 |
Updated: July 04, 2023
One late night on my computer I was thinking to myself, "I wonder if anything will ever come available on eBay related on the
Lost in Space cartoon?" I've about seen everything on eBay, except this! Then all of a sudden there it was! An original cartoon
cel of the Robot from the 1973 Hanna-Barbera Saturday morning cartoon show! Wow! I couldn't believe what I saw on my computer
screen! I won the auction and asked the seller if he had any other cels from this cartoon series? He replied maybe, and would
get back to me. Several weeks went by, when I received an email from him. He found the other 4 cels in his house, and if I
would be interested to let him know? You can be sure my little fingers were typing so fast on my computer keyboard. The seller
has been collecting animation art for many years. These cels were all hand painted, and were used in making the Lost in Space
special. They are "model" cels, and feature the cast of characters in a size comparion line-up, or an individual character cel.
The cel painters used these as reference when in production. In many cases, these same images would have been used by publicity
as well. Slides would have been created from art and sent to magazines and newspapers in hopes of generating interest and viewers
to the program. The 5 cels include, Craig Robinson, Deana Carmichael, Linc Robinson, Robot, ( Robon ) and Dr. Smith. "I may be the
only person owning a complete set of original cels from this cartoon!?" Mr. Awley mentioned to me that Jonathan Harris didn't even
have a cel from the cartoon show. He was very pleased when he was given one. I purchase these from Scott Awley of Valley Village California on October 2, 1998.
Value: $2,000 ( Each )
