JONATHAN HARRIS SKETCH DRAWING (FRANK DIETZ) |
Updated: April 13, 2022
This is an original charcoal sketch of "Jonathan Harris" as Dr. Zachary Smith from the classic Irwin Allen television series
Lost in Space, rendered by award-winning artist, Frank Dietz. This is a one of a kind item, not a copy or print, but the
actual piece which appears in Dietz's latest book, The 7th Voyage of Sketchy Things.
This year, Dietz was the first artist to be awarded "Artist of the Year" by the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards, presented
annually and representing the very best in classic horror media. He is a former Walt Disney Feature Animation artist whose
work can be seen in such films as Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, and Fantasia 2000. His popular Sketchy Things series of sketchbooks
have sold out each of their runs. He recently painted the cover art for David J. Schow's latest anthology, Havoc Swims Jaded,
and the upcoming mystery novel, Who Framed Boris Karloff?
The beautiful rendition of Jonathan Harris perfectly captures both the crafty and the cowardly nature of this popular character.
The sketch is done with charcoal pencil and is matted, framed under glass and wired, ready to display. The entire piece,
including the frame, measures 14" x 17."
This would be a stunning addition to any collector of Lost in Space items or classic monster art.
Value: $300.
