DR. SMITH BUST WITH MINI JUPITER-2 #02

Updated: July 27, 2022

Lost in Space Dr. Smith rare resin portait bust Shy, sinister, sneaky, selfish all the adjectives that describe the Jupiter-2's reluctant stowaway, Dr. Zachary Smith.

From 1965 through 1968, Sci-fi fans were dazzled each week by the ongoing exploits of America's first family in space "Lost in Space," that is the hit TV series that has enchanted millions for over four decades now. And everyone's favorite character of the timeless show (with the possible exception of the Robinson's Robot) was Dr. Smith, brilliantly portrayed by the late actor, Jonathan Harris.

Here, in tribute to the nefarious no-gooder, is an awesome resin portrait bust of the show's weekly "Special Guest Star." The bust was released as a limited-edition model back some seven years ago by Diceman Creations, and was officially licensed by Harris himself. It's a 1/6 scale piece, featuring a blindingly good likeness of the actor, wearing his signature spacesuit. Beyond the Doctor, the kit includes a miniature Jupiter-2 spaceship which doubles as a pedestal base, and a sculpted nameplate stating, "Special Guest Star Jonathan Harris." Ed White provided the superior sculpt, with Smith himself measuring 4" tall x 2 3/4" wide, and the J-2 saucer being 2 3/4" in diameter. There's also a clear dome for the ship in case one would choose not to use the Jupiter as a base, but display it separately.

This rare beauty is complete, unbuilt, and comes packaged in its original full-color box, waiting to take off to unknown worlds. So, if you're a fan of the devious Doctor, don't miss this one or you'll feel "the pain... the pain."

Value: $75. (Un-Built Kit)
