ROBOT B-9 GLOW-IN-THE-DARK DIORAMA |
Updated: October 17, 2022
This is a professional custom built-up of the Lost in Space Robot model kit from Polar Lights. This is a re-issue of the Aurora kit
from 1968. It has been painted exactly like the B-9. The brushed-aluminum / ghost grey metal color of the main frame has been
perfectly duplicated. The vulcanized rubber look of the arms and legs expertly mimicked. The correct color-sequence of every
light and button-panel flawlessly rendered. It has been superbly finished and hard-wired for a stunning lit-up effect, and is
displayed on a beautiful wooden base with a black foam insert, name plate included.
The Robot was built with easy maintenance in mind, so battery and bulb replacement is entirely possible, meaning that this is a
display piece that could last for many years with proper care. The lights are powered by 4 C-size batteries, hidden away under the
base, and the batteries are easily installed and replaced. The lights are activated with a hidden on/off switch, with the large
red-glass chest panel, glass sensor-dome housing, and the four small, red lower panels brightly lit when turned on. The smaller
buttons and lights on the Robot have been painted in luminescent paints, and as can seen in the pictures taken with a "black-light",
the effects is truly startling. This diorama was made for a Hollywood studio gallery in Los Angeles in September of 2002.
Value: $300.
