JUPITER-2 DIORAMA #35 (JERRY VONMUELLER) |
Updated: August 27, 2022
Lost in Space custom-built Jupiter-2 diorama. Jupiter-2 built from rare hard to find vaccum-form 8-inch diameter. This Jupiter-2 Was built to resemble black-white first-season flight-mode. For retro-look: with scratch-built flight-computer console-boxes on display-stand. The model took many long hours to get right look: detailing, putty, paint etc. Only started with the shell of the Jupiter-2. All other parts scratch-built.
This ship reminds me alot of the in flight scenes from the pilot episode. The model does not open completely closed. All interior can be viewed from front pilot windows & astorgator can be viewed thur dome. The custom scratch-built interior shows per photos
to view: astorgator, freeze-tubes, red-gyro-ball, computer-reels, elevator, doors etc. The diorama sets on plexi display-stand: 8 1/2 x 11-inches diameter.
Jupiter-2 painted retro-grey / silver power-core / enhanced pilot window-frames. flight computer consoles silver with boards printed on acetate so lights show thur. Lights consists of steady-bright LED-white-light in Jupiter-2 interior. And blinking LEDS green & yellow lights in the two console-boxes. The green & yellow blinking lights are in both console boxes but it is very difficult to catch photos of both colors & both console boxes lighted at same time.
Two-switches back of display stand operates the lights in ship & console-boxes. Powered by two separate battery-packs: Each take two AA-batteries secured under display-stand. One battery-pack operates console-boxes & the other pack for light in Jupiter-2. All AA-batteries are newly provided. Original one of kind will not be building this again.
Lost in Space a real collectors item for display collectible memorabilia!
