JUPITER-2 DIORAMA #37 (TIM NOLAN) |
Updated: September 14, 2022
This build utilizes the fine quality Moebius Models kit, highly modified to maximize the excitement and visually stimulating design of the classic 1960's spaceship from the Lost in Space TV series.
The ship sits upon a wooden oval base painted with House of Kolors urethane enamels embelished with large amounts of metalflake. Four flourescent green lucite rods support the hull. Each rod is illuminated by a blue LED light source, creating a glowing effect
up the rods and on the lower hull surface. The base lighting is powered by a seperate 9 volt battery pack located on the rear of
the base. Felt tips are on top of the rods to protect the painted surface. A kustom-painted modified project box houses all of the control toggle switches for all of the lighting, as well as the speaker for the sound. The ship itself is powered by a 5 volt wall mounted power source.
The hull of the ship itself is painted inside and out with House of Kolors Orion Silver basecoat, topcoated on the outer hull with
6 coats of HOK Kosmic Klear with my own trademark rainbow microflake in the mix. The finish is absolutely stunning in the sunlight and even in artificial light. A large viewport has been cut at the rear of the upper hull and fitted with an amber viewing window, providing a great view of the entire interior of the ship.
All of the interior painted components are finished in Tamiya Lacquers for a smooth finish as well. The only brush painting on
this build is the figures. All other components are airbrushed, spray can, or commercial spray gun for a smooth professional
finish.
Value: $1,000.
