LOST IN SPACE MOVIE ORIGINAL WILLIAM HURT CRYO FLIGHT SUIT |
Updated: March 22, 2025
John Robinson's ( William Hurt ) Jupiter Mission cryosuit from Stephen Hopkins' Lost in Space. The Robinson family wore cryosuits to enter cryosleep.
Multiple versions of the suits were created for each character, with life casts taken from each actor so molds could be produced for each suit. Costume designer Vin Burnham created the cryo suits to feature no form of fastening, which meant the actors had to be sealed into them for each day of filming with medical glue.
This costume consists of a black neoprene under suit covered in foam latex paneling in shades of gray with cast detailing; a resin chest badge reading "Jupiter Mission"; vacuum-formed tech elements on the arms, legs, and over the heart where connections would be made during cryosleep; and matching black boots with foam latex embellishments. The costume has been mounted to a mannequin on a metal display stand. It exhibits cracking and tearing throughout the foam and some paint loss. Dimensions: ( Displayed ) 24" x 10" x 68" ( 61 cm x 25.5 cm x 172.75 cm )
Value: $6,000.
