This rare tunic was worn by actor Jonathan Harris who played the famous role of, Dr. Smith on Lost in Space. This tunic was worn on the 2ndd season 1966-67 season on the CBS TV show. The costume is a brown velvet long-sleeve tunic with a orange V-neck collar & integral light-brown turtle-neck sweater. It is included with a back zipper closure. It is known that about 4-6 tunics were made for Jonathan Harris & Billy Mumy for each season.

Extras were made for their stunt doubles, cleaning & repair, and long days of shooting. It is also known that back in the early 1980's Western Costumes in Hollywood rented these props out to the general public. People would return these costumes weeks, or even months later, finding that these costumes were "REPLACED" with remake or fake copies. Be very careful when purchasing these type of items. Look for ware, smell, and studio tags on these. It is also common to find the actors names hand written on the clothing.

This tunic was for sell on a live eBay auction on December 12, 2001 and was apprasied for, $6,000-$8,000. The auction ended with only 5 bids and a high bid of $3,750.00 not meeting the reserve asking price. In my opinion this tunic costume was over appraised on it's current value!
