A prop belt from the television special Lost in Space Forever ( Fox Television Network, 1998 ) hosted by John Laroquette, a retrospective documentary about Irwin Allen's original series ( CBS, 1965-68 ) used to advertise the high profile film adaptation
( New Line Cinema, 1998 ).The documentary recreated the interior of Jupiter-2. The belt is modeled after the one on the classic
Lost in Space episode "Galaxy Gift," in which an alien gives Penny ( Angela Cartwright ) a powerful belt to hold on to for
safekeeping. She finds herself in a dilemma when the alien's enemies demand the belt in exchange for their lives.
The belt is made of seafoam colored felt with an affixed gold-painted plastic amulet and faux-jewels. An electrical switch is
present at the top of the amulet which powers a light on the bottom ( the light's functionality has not been tested ). Velcro is present at each end. In the documentary, John Laroquette plays with the belt against The Robot's advice and accidentally makes
himself disappear, summoning Will Robinson ( Bill Mumy ) and Dr. Zachary Smith ( Jonathan Harris ) from another dimension. Belt
measures 41.5 x 6 x 2 inches.
Value: $250.
