PLANET OF THE APES ORIGINAL CESAR COSTUME |
Updated: July 18, 2006
Roddy McDowall "Caesar" costume and display from Conquest of the
Planet of the Apes. (TCF, 1972) No actor is more associated with
the classic Planet of the Apes movies and TV series than Roddy McDowall,
who created the role of patriarch "Cornelius" and also his rebellious
son, "Caesar", who leads an uprising of oppressed simians in arguably
the finest of the four sequels, 1972's Conquest of the Planet of the
Apes.
McDowall's screen-used jumpsuit from the film is mounted on a custom-built
flexible mannequin with a stunning silicon head of "Caesar" (made using
appliances from McDowall's mold), prosthetics-grade glass eyes and hand
punched human hair, with silicon hands holding a very accurate M-16 rifle,
raised to inflict maximum damage on some human's skull! A fantastic,
lifelike display featuring McDowall's screen-used jumpsuit from the film.
The display stands fully 5 ft. 8 in. tall.
