PLANET OF THE APES ORIGINAL GORILLA SOLDIER ENSEMBLE |
Updated: May 24, 2024
A gorilla soldier costume from Franklin J. Schaffner's sci-fi classic Planet of the Apes ( 20th Century Fox, 1968 ).
This costume consists of a black ribbed leather vest with a front zipper and snap buttons, a purple cotton shirt with a back zipper
and a soft Velcro patch adhered to the front chest, and purple cotton pants that match the shirt. It includes a brown cotton
shoulder sling with brown leather pouches that were designed for simulated prop ammo and a black metal spring clip on the back
designed to carry a prop gorilla billy club.
A Western Costume tag is present inside the vest and is labeled with "2954-1" and a chest size of 42 and 44; the name "Hank" is
written in black marker in the name spot on the tag. The numbers on the Western Costume tag inside the shirt are quite faded but
appear to read "2778-3" and chest size 42. The pants contain no tags or labels. The arms of the shirt and the lower legs of the
pants both feature fabric fading making their appearance appear light brown in tone.
Value: $2,000.
