An original Sandman vest as seen worn by Michael York as "Logan 5" and a stuntman's tunic from the Sci-Fi classic Logan's Run ( Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1976 ).

Both the original vest and tunic are composed of a black polyester material. Michael York's vest features a Western Costume label on the interior that reads, "Chest 40," while the stunt double tunic features a Western Costume label that reads, "Chest 44." Based on the 1967 novel by William F. Nolan, the film depicts a dystopian future society in which all citizens are killed when they reach the age of 30, with "Sandman" agents responsible for hunting down and terminating "runners" ( those who attempt to escape their mandated deaths ). In the film, Sandman "Logan 5" ( York ) abandons his duties to seek out a mythic place called the Sanctuary. York can be seen wearing the garment throughout the first hour of the film, until Logan and "Jessica 6" ( Jenny Agutter ) arrive at a frozen cave upon escaping the city.
