Updated: April 30, 2026
A life size replica of the Mutaluna Mutant from Joseph Newman's This Island Earth created by Douglas Hildebrandt Studios. Human doctors Cal Meacham ( Rex Reason ) and Ruth Adams ( Faith Domergue ) were confronted by the terrifying mutant while escaping from Metaluna.
A defining film in 1950s science-fiction, This Island Earth has since become a cult classic and has had a sizable impact on pop culture. An edited version of This Island Earth was used as the film within the film in Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie. The film's most striking visual element, the bipedal insectoid creature known as the Metaluna Mutant, was used on most of the film's posters and advertisements, and remains one of the most famous classic science-fiction monsters.
This museum quality replica is made of resin with extensively detailed paintwork including glow in the dark eyes, thick red veins, and metallic teal pants. It stands on a planet textured base with a plaque on the front with the film's title and a plaque on the back labeling this as statue number "7". The base has a power cord running out of it, as the base is designed to illuminate, but remains untested. Dimensions: 34" x 29" x 85" ( 86.5 cm x 73.75 cm x 216 cm ).
Value: $8,000.
