Two high quality Supersnipe prints of production illustration drawn by production illustrator Ralph McQuarrie for the production of George Lucas' Star Wars: A New Hope. Part owned by Lucas at the time of A New Hope's release, New York comic art gallery Supersnipe specialized in illustrations by famous comics artists. McQuarrie drew the original production illustrations depicting the "laser duel" between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker and an X-Wing pursued by a TIE Fighter circa 1975, with these prints printed and signed circa late 1977 or 78 by the artist.
McQuarrie is widely considered one of the seminal Star Wars artists, having designed the look of Darth Vader, C-3PO, R2-D2, and countless other elements of the original film. McQuarrie was one of Lucas' first collaborators on Star Wars and created numerous concept sketches and production paintings that were used to convey Lucas' vision to those working on the film, and were later used to market it. McQuarrie's paintings were published in portfolios well-known to Star Wars collectors.
Both prints are signed by McQuarrie and hand-numbered "88/100" in graphite. Dimensions: ( Each ) 24" x 18.25" ( 61 cm x 46.5 ).
