"Darth Vader" Helmet made by ILM for Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi ( TCF, 1983 ). Vintage original production made
Darth Vader helmet created by Industrial Light & Magic ( ILM ) as one of several full Darth Vader costumes created in the Model
and Creature Shop for promotional appearances for Return of the Jedi. Constructed of cast fiberglass and composed of a faceplate
mask portion with triangular open venting and interior screening at mouth and chin, opaque vacuum formed plastic lenses in the eye sockets and turned aluminum "atmospheric sensors" at either side of the mouth. The dome section features the hallmark central fin
and flared brow and is adhered to the facemask at the top of the interior crown. The interior is unfinished, with no padding and
with cross grills and opaque eye lenses affixed to their ports with electrical tape. The iconic exterior of the helmet is expertly studio painted in gunmetal gray, metallic pewter, and glossy jet-black enamel. Exhibiting some chipping to the central fin of the helmet, minor age and wear. Consigned by a former long-term ILM employee.
