The Munsters ran from 1964 to 1966, a sitcom revolving around a family of monsters living in suburbia. Their appearances are similar to the classic Universal Monsters, which was convenient since Universal owned this show as well. The Munsters went head-to-head in their time slot with The Addams Family, another gothic-horror sitcom. The tone and theme were different, and The Munsters consistently received better ratings of the two. Robert M. Thompson scared up this illustration for a TV special in April 1965, The Munsters Marineland Special.
