VOYAGE FLYING SUB MONOGRAM KIT #02 |
Updated: July 08, 2004
The Flying Sub diorama was made out of a "science/project board". I made this one to enhance my ads on E-Bay. The backround is painted directly on the prepped surface of the board (foam core). I used my Badger 155 and 4 shades of blue and green to get that "aqua" flowing look. 2 studio lamps did the lighting (500w Halogens). The rock is out of my garden! As you may know, Monogram never issued a stand with this re-release of the Flying Sub, kinda' dumb.
The original Aurora release has a decent stand and I hang on to mine with ferocity. I used a 2.5 Megapixel Fuji Digital Camera to get the shot. Optimized it for the web on Adobe Photoshop. I have been trying to make my kits more interesting to potential buyers on E-Bay with more dramatic backrounds such as this. I have also experimented with a "Space" and "Jungle" backround. These add color and life to my props and are a lot of fun to work in, if I can find the time! :) The prop and backrounds are all produced here at The Kit Factory in Daytona Beach, Florida. All in my little garage/studio shop. Have been building models and props for over 30 years, and have loved every minute of it. S.Mercs 11/2/2003
