BATMAN BATMOVIL BATMOBILE (LEDY MEXICO)

Updated: July 18, 2023

Batman Batmobile ( Batmovil ) in original box. A Mexico Exclusive Release. This very rare 21" blow-mold Batmobile was released by Ledy in 1966 for the Mexican market. It is constructed of flexible dark blue plastic with a hollow body and has a thin transparent plastic windshield over Batman and Robin who is holding a black bomb inside. While the body and size are similar to the Transogram Batmobile, it actually uses a completely different mold. The car uses a crank system for propulsion so it has a wire connected to a white handle that makes it move forwards and backward. The box reads "Batmovil - De Propusion Mechanica" and has red and blue printing over a white background.

This version has the Ledy logo in orange on the box. The Batmobile has sticker residue and remnants on the front, hood, doors, and rear with only some of the chrome grills remaining. The hubcap spikes are intact on three wheels with one missing from the driver's side rear wheel. The windshield is made of thin plastic and is cracked in the center and missing the piece along the edge on the driver's side. The Robin figure has good paint, however Batman has paint loss on the head and some dirt on the body. The hand crank is yellowing with some wear but is functional. The Batmobile box is solid but dry and has some bends, creases, and wear. One side end flap is missing and one top flap is torn in half but included. The original cardboard tray insert that holds the car is also present and included. The box is a difficult find in any condition.

Value: $600.
