In 1984, Celebrity Prints, Inc. was formed to preserve a bit of entertainment history, on the order of Mann's
(the old Grauman's) Chinese Theatre, by taking the footprints and handprints of celebrities and reproducing
them for sale, a percentage of which went to the artist. These prints were produced in either concrete or a
lightweight plaster, framed in gold. The large prints measured 20 x 20, and each print was signed by the
artist and was also accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity containing a photo, bio and signature. The
small prints measure 10 x 14, and contain a single handprint, plus signature, also accompanied by a Certificate
of Authenticity.
After taking approximately 200 prints, to include the original Star Trek group, the ‘70's Dallas Cowboys, broadway
greats, etc., it became apparent that the project was costly, slow to reproduce, and difficult to market. Sadly,
the project was abandoned. Very few prints were ever made making them very exclusive. Recently the office building
where the prints were stored was sold, and consequently, the contents must be removed. There are Certificates of
Authenticity printed up on many artists and some great one-of-a-kind photos, but there were only 20 prints of
celebrities.
