Kelvan Hero Belt Device from Episode, "By Any Other Name" of Star Trek: The Original Series ( Paramount TV, 1966-1969 ). Vintage original belt prop weapon constructed of a two-tiered carved wooden box painted black with a depressible hand-lathed aluminum central button. The base tier of the box is studded by 8-equidistant clear nub lights. On the back of the box are inset wires configured to illuminate the exterior lights when the central button is depressed. A brass "U" bracket is affixed to the back of the box for clipping the device to a belt. Measures 3" x 2.5" x 2". This central piece of alien tech is highly visible throughout the episode and used by "Kelinda" ( Barbara Bouchet ) as well as "Rojan" ( Warren Stevens ). The "Kelvan Empire" uses these devices to paralyze and control the crew of the USS Enterprise when they take over the ship and can turn victims into small cuboctahedral blocks.
