A light-up TR-580 science tricorder Mark VII from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Tricorders were used by the Enterprise crew as a way of scanning others and assessing their conditions. Lieutenant Commander Data ( Brent Spiner ) used a tricorder in the Season 7 Episode 19 "Genesis" as he scanned various crew members who had been infected with mutated T-cells. This type of Tricorder also appeared in later series within the franchise, such as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.

This tricorder is made of grey, vacuum-formed plastic with decals of buttons and a display window. The tricorder opens out and has a compartment for a 6V battery that powers the lights. This tricorder has undergone sympathetic restoration to its electronics. This lot exhibits lifted adhesive and pitting. Dimensions: ( Open ) 20.5 cm x 8.5 cm x 4 cm ( 8" x 3.75" x 1.5" ).
