Working Hero Starfleet Tricorder from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan ( Paramount, 1982 ). Original working prop constructed of hollow cast resin, metal, and acrylic components, a closed hand grip at the back containing a button trigger designed to activate a 6-light sequence at the front of the device and the color bars under the green gridded display screen of the scanner. A slider switch on the back of the device would activate green blip lights on the display screen that illuminate in sequence, tracing an arc across the grid. The top is ornamented with repurposed cables and other tech. This model Tricorder was only used in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn. Used by Chekov ( Walter Koenig ) and Terrell ( Paul Winfield ) during their expedition to Ceti Alpha V and later by Saavik ( Kirstie Alley ) aboard Regula 1. Measuring 9" x 7.5" x 9". Repainted for a subsequent production. Batteries have been exhausted. Electronics present but untested. Exhibiting some production wear and scuffing.
