SS Botany Bay Crewmember Gold Metallic Honeycomb Sleep Suit from the Episode: "Space Seed" of Star Trek: The Original Series ( Paramount TV, 1966-1969 ). Vintage original gold metallic honeycomb-weave sleep suit from Season 1, Episode 22, "Space Seed". In the episode, Ricardo Montalban "Khan" and the crewmembers of the SS Botany Bay wear this distinctive suit while sleeping in suspended animation. The custom-made suit is exquisitely crafted from shimmering gold metallic threads, invisibly fastened together by hand with monofilament. It has hook-and-eye clasps along the back and appears completely seamless when seen on camera. A hallmark of costume designer William Ware Theiss, was his ability to craft costumes that were inventive yet boldly highlighted the contours of the human body, all while avoiding the scrutinizing eyes of the censors. In excellent, production-used condition with minor tears and fraying. Acquired from the William Ware Theiss estate.
